How can I search Word documents on my hard drive by keyword?
I've tried the search function built into Windows Vista, and also Google Desktop search.
Neither of these will find EVERY document on my hard drive that contains a given keyword (such as "Shakespeare"). These programs only find SOME of the documents.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
With Windows Vista you should rebuild the search index - or at least check that all the locations where your documents are stored are included in the list of monitored folders.
However, in Word you can click File/Open or whatever and then click Tools at the top right of the Open dialog box. You will then see "search" at the top of the menu. This will let you search for word docs containing keywords.
